The 2022 Lamborghini Urus may represent your chance to own a piece of automotive history.
The Lamborghini Urus is a supercar and an SUV in one, equally at home on the track or on the streets of Houston.
There are many adjectives that have been traditionally used to describe a Lamborghini.
“Fast, sexy, thrilling, powerful, fierce, exotic” are some of them. But words like “practical” and “sensible” never seem to be used to describe a Lamborghini.
The “Urus” embodies all of it. And its name comes from a working ancestor of modern cattle. Lamborghini has a long tradition of naming its vehicles after famous bullfighting bulls, earning its cars the nickname of “Raging Bulls.”

The Urus is a new type of car for Lamborghini.
Traditionally a low-riding Lamborghini supercar is considered more at home on the track or country road than on city streets where people are struggling to get to work or drop kids off at gymnastics.
Being super-fast supercars, Lamborghinis are low-slung, making it a bit hard for a daily driver to navigate normal city traffic with perfect visibility.
They aren’t designed for lots of stop-and-go traffic, nor are they practical for the highway with lots of semis blocking your vision. They are designed for heart-pumping fun. They are hypercars, supercars, and race cars. They are meant for speed and curb appeal and exoticism.
Enter the Urus, where the supercar meets everyday utility.
With the Urus, Lamborghini is entering the world of SUVs – hyper and exotic SUVs, but SUVs nonetheless.
The Urus has the soul of a super sports car but it works perfectly for your everyday life. In fact, the Lamborghini Urus is the world’s first Super Sport Utility Vehicle – where luxury, sportiness, and performance meet comfort and versatility.
And for 2023, the Urus delivers even more performance.
The Urus gains that performance with this year’s introduction of the new “S” and Performante variants. Similarly, it churns out 657 horsepower, an increase of 16 hps from the standard Urus.
“The Performante rides on a different suspension than the base S, one that has steel springs instead of air springs and sits 0.8 inches lower than normal. The Performante is also available with special shoes in the form of 23-inch wheels with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires,” Car & Driver notes. “While it still has a hefty curb weight of 5200 pounds, (the) Performante is pounds lighter than the Urus S thanks to the addition of carbon-fiber body panels and the removal of sound-deadening materials, among other weight-loss measures.”
Finally, the 2023 model year also brings reworked front and rear ends as well as a new fixed spoiler above the liftgate for the Performante, the magazine noted. The Performante also has its own specific seats and unique trim for the interior.
It’s a history-making game-changer in many ways. The 2023 Urus offers best-in-class driving dynamics, alongside its unmistakable elegance of design.
The Urus is sensible, practical, and utilitarian – but in a very Lamborghini kind of way.
And, technically, it’s the most “affordable” of all Lamborghinis, starting at $260,626.

It’s a higher-off-the ground supercar that can handle all sorts of off-roading, weather conditions, and lots of family fun. But it’s also a highly focused super-performance SUV unlike anything else on the market. It is first and foremost a Lamborghini with a zero-to-60 of just over 3 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph.
And although it’s a hypercar through and through, unlike just about every other Lamborghini ever made it has its engine up front. That allows it to have seating space for four or five and plenty of room for luggage in the back.
The standard Urus carries a twin-turbo V8 engine that churns out a stout 641 horsepower and emits a thrilling rumble.
While it’s not really an off-roader, the all-wheel drive performs well in wet – even snowy – conditions. And you will never need to worry about not driving the fastest SUV on the track.
Nothing in its class is quite as fast.
